I love my wife!

I owe so very much to my wife, but the story about how we both came to enjoy homebrewing goes back to our first trip to Lake Placid(quite a while ago). Shortly after we arrived in our Motel room, I just wanted to go for a hike around Lake Placid and find a place to eat. The wife being the smart one, thought it better to do a little research and find something more interesting than the everyday restaurant. In doing so she described to me a restaurant that made their own beer and served straight up pub fare. I hemmed and hawed a little bit (did not want to drive anywhere), then agreed we should try it out. Well, that place was Lake Placid Pub and Brewery. While waiting for a seat, I ordered a beer called Ubu, and for me, the rest is history. I had no idea beer could be so good. Sadly, at this point in time, it must be noted that my wife "strongly disliked" beer. If she liked anything it was wine.

Over the following years, I would seek out as many micro-brews as she would seek out wineries. As it were, I would be the DD for her wine tours and she for the brew tours.

Given the fact that there is a great variety of good beer to be found and a many a good beer tried by the wife, she slowly but increasingly came to appreciate several varieties. By the time my awesome in laws had bought me brewing equipment (about one year ago), my wife had a sizable list of beer that she liked. Then came a fateful day in the Blue Tusk (one of the best places to drink beer on the planet) when I ordered a Young's double Chocolate Stout. She took one sip and left the booth. I thought she went to the restroom and was shocked when she returned with her very own pint of Young's . Up to this point, I had never seen her be able to drink a full pint of beer (only 12 ounces), let alone stout (she hated the stuff). But she did and loved it. Shortly after that she discovered porter. The rest is history.
